Smile! We need your support

We have a photographer from the Croydon Guardian coming to Shirley Library tomorrow at 12.30 (Sat 16th Jan), and need as many residents as we can get into the photograph.

Come and lend your support. We’ll meet you outside Shirley library.

We just need a few minutes of their time as it will greatly help the Save Shirley campaign.

Save Shirley – January council meeting

Shirley residents,

We have written to Nathan Elvery, Croydon Council’s Chief executive, requesting we would like to present our online petition and see a debate at the January council meeting on Monday 25 January.

You can contact him yourself directly – nathan.elvery@croydon.gov.uk and let him know you also want to see it on the agenda for the Council meeting.

We have a long way to go and need to show them we mean business. Can we ask for your support at the Council meeting on Monday 25 January, when we formally present the petition and start a debate on their devastating plans for where we live?

The meeting will be held at the Town Hall, Katharine Street, Croydon CR0 1NX. There is a public gallery and anyone can attend – we need it packed full of MORA residents.

As soon as we hear from the Council we will confirm the time.

It’s not to late to sign the Save Shirley petition and takes just a minute to complete. So, please take the time to raise your objection to the Council’s plans, if you haven’t done so already.

Thank you for your support and we’ll see you on the 25 January.

Save Shirley

Dear MORA member,

Following our last communication about Croydon Local Plan (CLP2) consultation on the council’s plans for Shirley, we have created an online e-Petition to force a debate at a Full Council Meeting.

The Croydon Local Plan Policies will have a devastating effect on where we live and what is finally agreed will shape the way Shirley develops over the next 20 years. We need to STOP the council and to do that we need your support.

We need just 1,000 names on our e-Petition to give us the mandate to take our objection to the council’s elected members.

Individually complaining about these issues are important, but we have much more influence if we combine our efforts to produce a strong voice from a recognised residents’ association.

So, we’re asking all our members to support this objection. It takes just a minute to simply click on the link and register your details.

See the attached flyer here. MORA_SaveOurShirley

Everyone is eligible to sign, this isn’t restricted to just one signature per household.  Please share this with friends, family and neighbours.

We need a 1,000 signatures by the 14 January to take this objection to the council

Changing the designation of the area

Dear Residents,

Croydon Local Plan (CLP2 DM31.4) has recommended changing the designation of the area around and including the Green Triangle behind Valley Walk and down Shirley Road and Shirley Avenue.

You can download an objection Letter Template here for you to put your name, address, date and signature. Please either post it or email it to arrive before 18th December which is the close of the consultation.

Can you please also inform neighbours of the need to object.

Thank you.
